ist Professorin für Soziologie an der Externer Link: Hebräischen Universität von Jerusalem und Studiendirektorin am Externer Link: Centre européen de sociologie et de science politique, CSE-EHESS in Paris. Sie forscht und lehrt zu Emotionen, Kapitalismus, Kultur und Kommunikation. Ihre Forschungen untersuchen kulturelle Aspekte der Schnittpunkte zwischen Emotion und Kommunikation.

2009 nannte Externer Link: Die Zeit Eva Illouz eine von 12 Intellektuellen, die das Denken der Zukunft verändern werden. 2013 erhielt sie den Anneliese-Maier-Forschungspreis der Externer Link: Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung. Mehrere ihrer Bücher wurden von der Externer Link: American Sociological Association ausgezeichnet. Eva Illouz wurde 2018 mit dem Emet Prize in der Kategorie Sozialwissenschaften ausgezeichnet. In der Begründung der Jury heißt es: "Der Emet Prize wird Prof. Eva Illouz verliehen für ihre wegweisenden Erkenntnisse zur Entwicklung des Selbst in der kapitalistischen Gesellschaft der Gegenwart und die Erarbeitung von Schlüsselbegriffen, die zu Meilensteinen der internationalen soziologischen Forschung wurden."

Abstract zur Keynote "Emotionen in Politik"
Eines der beständigsten und überzeugendsten Klischees politischer Philosophie und journalistischer Diskurse ist, dass aufgeklärte Politik und Emotionen gegensätzlich seien. Diese Keynote untersucht, auf welche Weise Emotionen politischen Prozessen immer innewohnen und definiert anschließend eine populistische Annäherung an Emotionen.

Biography in English

Prof. Dr. Eva Illouz is Professor of Sociology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and Directrice of Studies at the Centre européen de sociologie et de science politique, CSE-EHESS in Paris. Her research and teaching focus on emotions, capitalism, culture and communication, in particular cultural aspects at the intersection of emotion and communication.

In 2009 the weekly newspaper Die Zeit chose Eva Illouz as one of the 12 thinkers most likely to change the thought of tomorrow. In 2013 she received the Anneliese-Maier International Award for Excellence in Research from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Several of her books won awards from the American Sociological Association.

In 2018 Eva Illouz received the Emet Prize in the category of social sciences. The jury stated: "The Emet Prize is awarded to Professor Eva Illouz for her groundbreaking insights into formation of the self in contemporary capitalist society and for the formulation of key concepts that have become milestones in international sociological thought."

Abstract of her Keynote "Emotions in Politics"
One of the most enduring and pervasive cliches of political philosophy and journalistic discourse, is that enlightened politics and emotions are antithetical. This keynote examines the ways in which emotions always inhere somewhat in the political process and goes on then to define a populist approach to emotions.
