von: Bombay Flying Club

Photographer Martin Blume has been working on the site of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp for more than four years. During this time he has encountered numerous survivors. In talking to them, he uses his photographs to trigger their memories. In this exploration of the power of images, he speaks to Jerzy Maria Ulatowski while showing him his work.

Inhalt

Jerzy Maria Ulatowski (born 15 April 1931 in Warsaw) was deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp on 12 August 1944, during the Warsaw Uprising, together with his 11-year-old sister Hanna and his mother Zofia. He was given the number 192 823. The family stayed in Auschwitz until shortly before the evacuation. A few days before the liberation of the camp, they were able to escape and were hidden by Agata and Jan Baraniak from Brzeszcze.
