Today, the Berlin districts of Treptow-Köpenick and Neukölln border each other at the intersection of Heidelberger Strasse and Elsenstrasse. The Berlin Wall used to run through here. Using virtual reality, this animated film retraces the story of a divided city through the eyes of a Berlin street intersection.

Inhalt

The now rather tranquil Berlin intersection of Heidelberger Strasse and Elsenstrasse was witness to a turbulent history between August 13, 1961 and November 9, 1989. The Berlin Wall ran through here for about 28 years, symbolizing German division and the Cold War. Using virtual reality and historical photographs, the exhibition depicts attempts to escape through tunnels, efforts to penetrate the Wall with an armored vehicle, the expansion of border security at the intersection, and the dismantling of the Berlin Wall after November 9, 1989.
